Stores Operator / Stores Deputy Operator

The Junior Stores Operator will support the Stores Deputy Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store/warehouse. The role involves handling inventory, ensuring proper storage and issuance of materials, maintaining accurate records, and supervising a small team to ensure smooth and efficient stores operations.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties
•	Assist the Stores Manager in daily stores and warehouse operations.
•	Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against delivery notes and purchase orders.
•	Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.
•	Issue materials as per authorized requests and maintain accurate issue records.
•	Monitor stock levels and report shortages, excesses, or slow-moving items.
•	Participate in regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory.

Supervision & Coordination
•	Supervise and guide stores assistants and helpers on daily tasks.
•	Ensure team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
•	Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance of the team under supervision.
•	Maintain good housekeeping and organization within the store area.

Documentation & Systems
•	Maintain accurate records in stock registers, ERP systems, or inventory software.
•	Prepare basic stores reports such as stock movement, consumption, and discrepancies.
•	Ensure all documentation is properly filed and easily retrievable.

Health, Safety & Compliance
•	Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and procedures.
•	Promote safe handling and storage of materials at all times.
•	Report any incidents, damages, or non-conformities to the Stores Manager promptly.

Skills:

• Basic knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations. • Ability to supervise and coordinate a team effectively. • Good organizational and time management skills. • Basic computer skills (MS Excel ERP or inventory systems). • Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks. Personal Attributes • Honest reliable and disciplined. • Physically fit and able to handle store-related tasks if required. • Willingness to learn and grow within the organization. • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to work. Education • Senior Secondary School Certificate • Preferred Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in store management

Accounting or a related field. • Relevant professional certification in inventory or warehouse management is an advantage.
