OHS Officer

Health and safety are fundamental to the development of the Irele Energy.
To achieve this aim, Irele Energy seeks to hire EHS professional with cognate experience and skills to implement OHS requirements and standards on projects; power and gas operations; work smartly and build Irele Energy image as the industry leader in implementing world-class OHS/EHS best practices

•	Safety Management
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Identify and report potential hazards.
Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures.
Maintain safety records and documentation.
Collaborate with operations team to ensure safe work practices.

•	Training and Awareness
Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs.
Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors
Ensure employees understanding of safety policies, programs, and procedures.
Organize safety meetings and drills.

•	Incident Management
Assist in/ lead investigating incidents and near-misses.
Develop and implement corrective action plans.
Maintain incident records and documentation.
Follow up action closures and improvement plans

•	Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and industry-specific regulations.
 Stay up to date with changing regulations and standards.
Ensure maintaining permit compliance and reporting.
Prepare work permits and related documents for jobs to be done
Manage contractors to ensure LFZ EHS code of conducts for contracts are implemented
Ensure PPEs are available, sufficient and suitable for workers and scopes of work
Ensure/Enforce PPE compliance at site.
Ensure proper safety equipment maintenance.
Enforce consequence management /safety violation matrix when required

•	Communication and Collaboration
Prepare and provide daily, weekly, monthly Health and Safety Reports 
Communicate safety information to employees and stakeholders.
Collaborate with operations team to ensure safe work practices.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
Participate in safety committees and meetings.

•	Monitor LFZ EHS-related activities to identify opportunities for improvement.

•	Any other EHS related functions that may be assigned.

Education:

BSc

ISPON level 3 as an HSE minimum qualification

NEBOSH & ISO 45001 certification

Skills:

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of safety management system

• Working knowledge of relevant current legislations and practices (local and international)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Effective problem solver and strong attention to detail

• Good team player confident Self-motivated Self- starter and ability to work independently and relationship- building

• Good multi-task skills and ability to handle complex tasks

• Good analytical skills and critical thinking skills

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office tools

Qualification • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or Physical Sciences or related field

• Relevant certifications (e.g. OSHA 30-Hour CSP CSHM HSE or ISPON level 3)

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards

• NEBOSH IGC & ISO 45001: 2018 certifications will be an added advantage

Minimum of 5 years of HSE work cognate experience in a Power and Gas Electrical Safety system and Construction
